Celebrating “the 11th World Social Work Day”

March 21, 2017, to celebrate the 11th World Social Work Day (WSWD), the School of International Education together with the Graduate School of China Women's University successfully held the academic salon with the theme of "Promoting Community and Environmental Sustainability”, which relates to the third pillar of the Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development.

WSWD is organized by the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) and the School of Social Work Geneva (HETS-Genève). WSWD 2017 explores the following questions: What can social work contribute and which competencies are needed to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)?’

The event attracted the participation of both the international and the Chinese MSW students studying in China Women’s University. Watched a short video about WSWD, the students exchanged their ideas and experiences from their studies and native practices on the topic of "Community and Social Work" and "Environmental Sustainable Development" through In-depth discussions. At the meantime, they also shared refreshments and played interactive games together. The international and Chinese students celebrated their own festival in a warm atmosphere.

Via this event students not only get to know more theoretical and practical knowledge about international social work, but also harvest intercultural friendship as well. Taking this event as a start point, it is looked forward that the students from the international and domestic MSW programs would have more opportunities of inter-communication in the future.

The teachers, JIAO Yang, YU Xinrong and LI Yimeng from the Graduate School, as well as ZHANG Yuan from the School of International Education participated this event.
