School of International Education Held the Series Academic Lectures ---- Education and Gender

        The academic lecture themed “education and Gender mainstreaming” was held by school of International Education on Nov. 21st, 2017. The lecture was given by Prof. Zhang Lili, a multicultural educational expert from Beijing Normal University. 2017 Mofcom Foreign Aid Degree Program students of China Women’s University attended the lecture. The lecture talked about all kinds of difficulties the women’s education face in China from the gender mainstreaming perspective, as well as China’s according actions and efforts.

                    

        Firstly, Prof. Zhang introduced all kinds of difficulties the female pupils met in remote area of China, including lacking of tuition fee, family support and gender equality, which were the factors that prevent them from going to school at the proper age and graduating smoothly. She also described some educational progresses for solving these problems mentioned above, including offering specific scholarships, going to the students’ home to communicate with their parents for the family support,  providing funds and teachers for helping those females overcome the difficulties and go to school like other students. Prof. Zhang then told the students the difficulties those girls and women face in China’s countryside and remote areas, and also introduced China’s efforts made by Chinese government and other organizations  to help with the way of education, including the content of culture and science,  health, gender equality and law, which were effective ways to empower those females. Finally, she introduced and analyzed the present situation of women leaders in education field and shared about how improve leadership. 
         During the lecture, the students actively took part in the discussions and shared the difficulties their country’s women faced in the field of education. They also shared the efforts their country made for women's empowerment and expressed their hopes to become a female leader. Moreover, they analyzed and discussed the feasibility of becoming a leader. The students had deeper understanding of educational difficulties through their opinion expressions and discussions, which is a very important result the series of academic lectures would like to achieve.
