2016 Mofcom Program Students Attended the Forum on Women Issues in Lancang-Mekong River Basin

Students of 2016 Mofcom Foreign Aid Degree Program were invited to attend the Forum on Women Issues in Lancang-Mekong River Basin(The Forum) with the strong support of China Women’s University (CWU) and the cooperation and arrangement of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of CWU. The forum was held at Beijing International Convention Center on Oct, 19, 2016.

The Forum was co-hosted by China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), China- ASEAN Center and CWU. And it was held and organized by the International Cooperation and Exchange Office and School of Gender Studies and Social Development of CWU. Those attended the forum including Experts and scholars of gender study from China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, government officers and representatives from non-governmental organizations. Qi Mingqiu, CSCLF Executive Vice Chairman, Cao Jing, the counselor and director of Division of Regional Cooperation, the Department of Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Li Mingshun, Secretary of the Party committee of CWU presented and addressed the opening ceremony. Students of 2016 Mofcom Foreign Aid Degree Program attended the opening ceremony and sub forum on women and social governance.

                           

The forum was held on the point of the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations. It’s aim was to deepen exchanges and cooperation, strengthen friendship and mutual trust, and promote Lancang-Mekong River cooperation. Liu Bohong, former researcher in Women's Studies Institute of China and distinguished professor in CWU, and Ms.Sengman, member of Zumi National Congress in Myanmar, delivered keynote speeches. Excellent speeches from different perspectives and heated discussions about issues of women and social governance were launched by experts and scholars of gender studies from Lancang-Mekong river basin. Through their participation in this forum, The students had a further understanding of the current situation and trends in international society of gender equality, women suffrage, social governance, policy on women issues in different countries, China’s reform of women organization and women’s identity. All those also helped a lot in improving their academic standard.
