CWU Holds Seminar on Ideological, Political Construction



On October 28, China Women’s University's (CWU) Department of Ideological and Political Theory Education and related functional departments co-sponsored the seminar on the construction of ideological and political theory.

The seminar aimed to further implement the spirit of the “China Normal University Innovation Plan on the Ideological and Political Theory Course Construction System” document, and deepen reform on the teaching of the course for the subject.

Li Mingshun, the Chairperson of CWU Council; Su Ruping, director of the Department of Ideological and Political Theory Education; directors of the Personnel Direction, Teaching Affairs Office, Scientific Research Management, Student Affairs Office, and the Modern Education Technology Center; and, a number of teachers attended the meeting. Zhang Xiangcun, Director of the Publicity Department, presided over the event.

According to the above documents and the “China University Construction Standard on Ideological and Political Theory Course” paper, Su introduced CWU’s basic ideas and implementation scheme in terms of innovation. She put forward some ideas on the reform of the teaching material system, talents system, and the teaching system construction.

Teachers from the Department of Ideological and Political Theory Education shared their ideas and experiences of the classroom teaching, professional characteristics, scientific research, and teaching practice.

Li listened intently to the teaching reform, and pointed out that attendees should study the spirits of the documents thoroughly, and place emphasis on the construction of six aspects in the process of carrying out its instructions.

Firstly, course teaching reform should keep pace with the times, and meet the students’ demands, said Li. Teacher should communicate regularly with students, participate in students’ activities, and strengthen their relationships.

Second, they should further strengthen the teaching and research activities, actively carry out the collective lesson preparation and the collective research. It is also important for the Department of Ideological and Political Theory Education to improve teaching efficiency, Li continued.

Thirdly, it is urgent to carry out high quality teaching resource sharing, especially the use of networked education resources. Fourth, the utilization of modern education technology, especially networked multimedia technology, to assist ideological and political teaching, should be improved. Fifth, strengthening the teaching practice, and promoting students’ and teachers’ common development should be stressed.

Lastly, attendees should keep trying and studying, and actively explore the teaching reform of ideological and political course, said Li.

Li pointed out that teaching ideological and political theory in higher institutes aims to gain more students through virtue. CWU’s teaching reform is still at the stage of research and practice. All the staff should advocate and practice teaching reforms which are conducive to talent cultivation. CWU will push forward the construction of ideological and political theory in its course teachers, counselors, party and government civil servants, and other relevant teachers.

Li emphasized that teachers of ideological and political theory courses must be members of the Communist Party. Political standpoint is the primary criterion for course teachers. He hoped that the course teachers could increase their awareness, strengthen their consciousness of the Party spirit, consciously abide by the political discipline and organization discipline, and cultivate qualified personnel with a high sense of mission and responsibility.

During the seminar, directors of the relative functional departments respectively delivered speeches. Combining with their own actual situations, they expressed their suggestion on the teaching reform and the construction of CWU’s ideological and political theory.
