On November 17, China Women’s University (CWU) held a symposium on the conference spirit of the recent Fifth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee. The event was sponsored by the Publicity Department and Student Affairs Office, and presided over by Li Mingshun, Chairperson of the CWU Council.

Liu Liqun, CWU President; CWU Vice-Presidents Liu Meng and Wang Jingxia; as well as all of the teachers with Party memberships, and some 600 students, participated in the event.

Shi Hexing, deputy director of the Public Administration Department, Chinese Academy of Governance, gave a speech reporting on “Promoting the Modernization of the National Governance under the Guidance of the New Development Idea”.

According to his own research and ideas from the perspective of national governance, Shi further analyzed and interpreted the spirit of the CPC meeting from four aspects, including the new expectations of the national governance’s modernization, its nature and logic, the innovation-drive of its modernization, and the progress of its civilization.

Shi also highlighted the meeting spirit with a development philosophy that emphasized the qualities of being innovative, coordinated, eco-friendly, open, and shared by all. He expounded six innovation-driven criteria including function, power, coordination, participation, responsibility, and value mechanism.

The report reflected on a definite theme and grasped the main idea of the CPC meeting. Its concrete content was rich and clear, and its strong theoretical and ideological ideas helped deepen the teachers’ and students’ understanding of the meeting's spirit.

At the end of the symposium, Li summarized and emphasized that it was of far-reaching significance for attendees to grasp and produce research under the new historical conditions of the ideological and political work methods. He also hoped that each of the general Party branches, directly affiliated Party branches, and all of the Party members could study and completely understand the spiritual essence of the meeting.

At the same time, it is important for attendees to use the policies to unify their thoughts, combine the meeting spirit with the “Three Stricts, Three earnests” principle, adopt to a new mindset to promote the university’s overall development, deepen comprehensive reform, complete the university’s 13th five year plan of career development, and finally find ways to develop women’s higher education, explained Li.
